"So that the next generation might set their hope in God.

Would You Ever Expect Latinos to Reach Out to the Muslims?

Many years ago in Perspectives, David and I learned that Muslims are more open to Hispanics because they do not have the Crusades in their background. Every time David goes through an airport the attendant chooses him. I usually ask them, “How many Mexican terrorist do you know?” David gives me one of those silencing looks. “Just doing my job,” thoughtlessly comes the attendant’s response. So the Mexicans happen to blend in with the looks of the Muslims as well.

A few months ago, David started working with the Spanish speaking churches in local area and he has had an amazing response.* Many of these churches, for some time now, have had a burden from God to reach out and help the orphans around the world. He is making preparations for the teams that God is raising up to go visit children’s homes around the globe.

One of the challenges will be that God is raising up so many Latino churches and the work in the Middle East is not a fast growing area. We do believe where God raises up, He will provide. Please pray for wisdom to follow His direction.

*John 5:19 teaches us a beautiful and amazing example that Jesus set before us. “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does." Wouldn’t that change the world –if God’s people did only what we saw our Father doing! Jesus was involved in what He saw His Father doing. Those are the areas I want to be involved in, the ones my Father is already at work in. We see God at work in this, moving the hearts of pastors and their congregations to help the orphaned children around the world. This is not a new work-it is God’s work that He has burdened His people with. Our heart is to empower the Latinos to do the work God has put before them.
